Morris & Jerome

I randomly wonder where our podcast would have gone if Donte and I would have kept it going. It really sucks that the obligations of adulthood got in the way of something greater. The podcast landscape wasn’t as crowded as it is now, especially when it came to Black podcasts. The Read, Combat Jack, and Two Girls & a Guy, were some of the more popular Black podcasts that were out when. The MyPotnaB podcast is what put the battery in my back to do my own. Brandon was the originator of the show and he flew solo. He’d talk about life and have people that he knew off twitter as guests. It was real personable and progressive. I knew that I wanted a co-host to share the workload with and have an expanded audience.

A friend of a friend connected me with Donte (@drPhilDonteHue on Twitter). He was in his early thirties, like me. Had two kids, like me. Was divorced, like me. Had a crazy situation at the time with his ex-wife, like me. Well my situation wasn’t as crazy as his. The mother of his children was doing Federal time for tax fraud. She was being funny with people’s tax returns, is how Donte explained it. Before we were brought together, I had known of his name by his tweets. He was a for all the great things that he would tweet about, he was a problematic and polarizing tweeter. I thought my tweets were toxic, but his took the cake.
